Skull:: Blender Project Completed
Posted by Neelakantan K.K. on May 29, 2007
So about one month after I posted about it, I started my new project in Blender. It’s a skull. The first problem I faced was with the ref images. They didn’t line up properly. They were nicely done, but did not line up. So had to search for them, in the middle of studying for crappy competitives. My present ref images are

These are adequate for the modelling.
Now I’ve only started in full force yesterday. Here are some WIP(Work-In-Progress) shots for those who are interested.

As you can see, It still lacks a proper jaw and well, he doesn’t have a cranium.
Will get there soon.
Adiós para el presente

Update::
I’ve finished the modelling of the skull. I plan to uv-map the texture. So I’ll have to create a texture using GIMP. UV-Mapping is supposed to be hard. Let’s see how it goes.
Here are the skull shots.

A Final vertice count of 625 and a final face count of 628. Not bad for a newbie.
Au revoir pour le présent.

Update
I unwrapped and uv-mapped a texture to it. Here’s the unwrapped mesh and the final render after applying the first texture.

I may improve it. Most probably will improve it. Anyway C&C always welcome. Flames are also welcome.
Addio per il presente.

Update
Changed the texture yet again. And decreased the flatness of his head.

There are seams in the mapped model. That arises dues to the fact that the colors on the two sides do not match. Try and paint the edges of the unwrap with the same color.The unwrap looks a bit messy though.

@Kaustav, The seams were intentional. I was trying an effect which did not come out. And the unwrap looks clean to me.
@ramya
The second Image has his jaw punched in.
